Gideon - Part II

Tear down your father's altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. Then build a proper kind of altar to the LORD your God on the top of this height.Judges 6 : 25, 26

Good morning, friends.

Israelites after getting delivered from the hands of Sisera, again turned to evil and went astray. For seven years they were under the Midianites. They cried unto the Lord when they were not able to withstand the pressure given by the Midianites. So the Lord chose Gideon as a mighty warrior who could lead Israelites. Gideon considered himself as the least among the least, but God made it clear that He would deliver Israelites from the hands of Midianites through Gideon.

Gideon asked, "But Lord how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family." The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together."
Gideon was very happy that he spoke to the Lord and so he built an altar to the LORD …

Gideon - Part I

“If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?”Judges 6 : 13
Good morning, friends. It has been long since we’ve done character study. Let us read something about Gideon day by day.

Israelites after getting delivered from the hands of Sisera, again turned to evil and went astray. For seven years they were under the Midianites.

When the Israelites cried to the LORD because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I snatched you from the power of Egypt and from the hand of all your oppressors. I drove them from before you and gave you their land. I said to you, 'I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.' But you have not listened to me."

The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep i…

A busy prayer!

“Lord, save me.”Matthew 14 : 30
Good morning, friends.

In my fellowship we have Fasting Prayer on all Thursdays. We have some worship teams and I’m one among the fifth team. It was my turn to lead worship, last Thursday. Actually I was not only busy with my work, but also deeply burdened in my heart about various things. I was not so sure whether I would lead the worship or not. My shift ended by 2.30 PM, but as I was stuck up with some more activities, I stayed at my office for more time. Before leaving for the fasting prayer, I went into the dormitory and opened my Bible to read few passages. And then I just prayed to Him, “Lord you know how I’m today. I’m not having the strength to go and lead people in worship. But still, please be with me and let everyone feel your presence when we worship.” Though it was a busy prayer (lesser than 5 minutes), I prayed sincerely, because I knew I could do nothing without Him.

Worship started. I led worship many times so far. But that was a very di…

Count your blessings!

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name.Hebrews 13:15
Good morning, friends.

Last year I bought a very big diary. But I’ve not used it to the full extent. I’ve scribbled some prayer points, some devotionals, some daily experiences for the first few days. That’s all. When I looked at it a few days back, I opened it again and when I started reading all the prayer points with a pen to tick whichever has been answered by the Lord, I couldn't stop praising Him. It reminded me of the days when me and my friend woke up and sang some songs, read few passages with partial sleep and prayed for many prayer points. We finished one notebook very sooner and almost all the prayer points were marked with a tick, which showed us the Lord's faithfulness in answering our prayers.

I had the same experience when I read this new diary. For some of my friends I've prayed for their marriages and even before I started…

Be a doer!

We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.Hebrews 2:1

Good morning, friends.

I’m working for a new project since the last month. I’m the only one working from my organization interacting with the client teams at on-site. This is altogether a very different project. Clients give knowledge transfer everyday and they assign some tasks to me. When I listen to them over the phone, or when I watch them doing things on their system, I’ll be pretty sure they’re very easy to perform. But when they all go to sleep assigning me the same tasks, I’ll be in such a pathetic situation if I get stuck somewhere. Mostly I’ll hesitate to wake them up at night. But if I face any problem, there is no way I can perform the tasks which need to be done at the scheduled times. So what we planned is, whatever they tell me, I’ll do in front of them by remote desktop sharing and once they feel I’m comfortable, they’ll go for a happy nap. This is how I learn…

He never sleeps!

Indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.Psalms 121:4

Good morning, friends.

Now-a-days I’m working in first shift. I’ve to get up at least by 4.15 AM everyday. I’ve to be in office at around 6 AM in the morning. You all may know how tough it is to get up so early especially when the weather is too cold. I’m staying away from my parents for work. I set up an alarm every night before I go to sleep. You know what happens? My hand will automatically snooze the alarm every now and then as I’ll be so sleepy. But my father will call me everyday at around 4.15 AM. That’s normal. But one day he returned to my hometown so late by 2 AM and then as usual he called me. I asked him if he could call me after ten minutes. He agreed and then when he woke me up again, he told me that he didn’t sleep at all for the entire night as he knew if he slept, he would have not waken up at 4 AM to give me a call. Though I was worried for not allowing him to sleep, I felt so happy that m…
